I've done a few of Tony Horton's workouts (P90X3, P90, 10-Minute Trainer, & 22 Minute Hard Corps) and I always loved how he would push you to work harder, but crack you up at the same time. So when his book came out I knew it was something I wanted to read. Since January is the month of new resolutions, and I have been trying to loose those pregnancy pounds that have stayed on too long, I had this book up first. I couldn't find it at Powell's so I had to go to B & N to get it.
This book is an easy one to set down at times (although you probably won't want to). The chapters are all separate laws that don't need to be read one right after the other. Most of the time when celebrities "write" books, it's really in name only. This one was different, Tony admits that he had help from Denis Faye and it sounds like it was mostly Tony's words with Denis just making them into a coherent book. Tony's humor totally comes through the book too. I was cracking up at times and just felt this was true Tony. I thought that each law really gave me some insight into what I could be doing better in my life. The cool thing was that, obviously, he gave you examples of how to apply it in fitness, but he also tells you how to apply it to your home, work, and relationships. I really liked how he talked about his personal journey into fitness and what he does consistently to keep it all working. He had great inspirational stories from people he had met along the way too.
Overall I got exactly what I was hoping to get from the book. It was completely satisfying and it has really helped me with my fitness journey. The biggest thing I learned was how to stay consistent. Everyday that I don't want to workout I hear Tony's voice say, "You have to do it, so just do it. ...You'll be happier and healthier when you've done it." And of course he is right! If you're looking for a good fitness motivational book than this is the one for you. I totally recommend this to anyone, even if you're not super into working out. There is plenty of inspiration for other areas of your life too.
Here's my progress at staying consistent after reading the book.
So what did you think?
